World cleanup day 2022 17 september
Decathlon teammates
acting together
to clean our playgrounds

In association with World Cleanup Day, DECATHLON teammates have organised 560 events
in 37 countries and regions on September 17th, 2022 to clean and protect playgrounds while doing sports.
20,000 people have thus collected 50,000 kilograms of waste throughout the world.

DECATHLON has committed alongside the World Cleanup Day association the desire to educate everyone to practice their sport in a more responsible way. This global waste collection day has now become an unmissable event for teammates, their families and friends. A fun and enjoyable moment around sustainability stakes to engage people through a common interest.

Isabelle Guyader,
Chief Sustainability Officer DECATHLON shared her thoughts on the importance of such actions:

“As an international company, DECATHLON is proud to be partnering with World Cleanup Day as a way to connect with our communities and create local initiatives. It’s important for us to take a moment with colleagues, friends and family to reconnect with our daily environment. Seeing and collecting all the waste that has accumulated in our neighbourhoods and on our playing fields is an excellent reminder of the strength and determination we need to change our society. Acting collectively reinforces our motivation to be bold in our jobs, to take brave decisions because we are fortunate to have great power in our hands as DECATHLON teammates.“

Julien, Founder of World Cleanup day in France added:

“DECATHLON is one of the first companies that we called in 2017 to participate in the first edition. They were implicated immediately and fully in mobilising a maximum of teammates in France but also in their other countries. Since, their investment has strengthened and the number of participants has increased. Common values of sport and ecology are wonderfully highlighted in their implication and we don’t doubt the expected growth for the next few years.”

Throughout the year, DECATHLON teammates have engaged and organised cleanup events.
Here are the results since the beginning of the year, all cleanups events included:
