Our Story
& History
We, at Decathlon, were born in Englos, near Lille, in the north of France, some 45 years ago.
We have, since this day of July 1976 when Michel Leclercq created Decathlon and gathered around him six "pioneers", followed this one
philosophy: "sustainably make the pleasure and benefits of sport accessible to the many".
We love doing sport, we love interacting with people, we love innovating. Here are three of the chapters of our short history...
